Title: Africa: My homeland

By: MissJoy88

-Africa

-Africa

-Africa

-Can you hear the cries from your people suffering from famine, war and disease. The blood shed from the throats of innocent children caught in the middle of the war for freedom. But freedom is only experienced through death and blood shed.

-Africa, what can be done to decrease the amount of women working on the streets, selling their bodies for their child's milk but degrading their body through the invitation of AIDS/HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases that takes away one's sight of a having a peaceful life.

-Africa

-Africa

-May you strengthen my people through hardships and loss. We are a continent of culture and beauty but a majority of the American culture see us as death, sickness and poverty.

-Rich in soil that holds a long generation of history. From the language of our tongues to the scent we smell from our cultural dishes. We are a whole nation of cultural beauty.

-Our traditions are marked deep into our skins. We are searched for from the roots our hair to the color of our eyes all the way to the rhythms of our body that dances along with our nation's talents.

-Music showcases our cries with our highs and lows. Depicting the foreign stories that have been untold.

-Africa is a homeland of a home.

-Welcoming the lives of those ready to make this home their home. Through understanding Africa's history and accepting the culture, you are part of a homeland where many live and migrate to.

-Africa oh Africa, why are we denied by many with the same skin as I?

-Don't they know that whether one is Caribbean or just Black, that their simple names can be traced to either Nigeria, Ghana, Togo or even Egypt. One will never deny their seen skin color but will deny their unseen culture.

-Africa, they will soon learn that my homeland is theirs too.

-Where the people speak English just as well as the Americans do.

-Africa oh sweet beautiful Africa!

-We will be reunited very soon. Born into your arms but carried in America, I will lay my ignorant head in your arms soon once again.

-Where I will become one with my people's struggles and to help lead my own people out of their struggles. For blood shed is my blood shed. Cries that are cried are my tears.

-In the meantime, comfort the pain of my continent. Restore hope by preserving the love for one's own individual country.

-Africa is my homeland where others call their own but few deny its beautiful and influential history.Where one can hear the loud and painful cries from my people suffering from famine, war and disease. Memorize the patterns of the blood that has been shed from the throats of innocent children caught in the middle of the war for freedom because freedom has only been experienced through death and blood shed.

-Africa, Africa can one day be the home of the free because Africa is deeply rooted in me.

-It will one day become a tool used in non-violent actions to correct the misconceptions of you.

-For I am Joy Edose Osahon-Agbator where people can not even pronounce my name except for the first. But your people will see and feel my culture through my name. Know my name for I am a young Nigerian women who has my eyes sought out for change.

-To preserve my home's name which is called Africa.
